Greetings all, hope you had a great April. Community Services is partnering with Case Memorial Library in an “Aging Gracefully “Series to promote health and well being. Tuesday May 2, at 7:00pm in the Community Center Senior Lounge, Yoga instructor, Sue Nuefield will be presenting “Yoga for Peace and Well Being Destress with Breathe”. On Tuesday May 16, at 7:00pm in the High Plains Cafeteria, Courtney Huggins a registered retail Dietitian with Shop Rite of Orange will be presenting “Ingredients for a Healthy Lifestyle”. She will be preparing a chicken sausage pasta dish.

This month we celebrate and honor our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters and any significant females that we have in our lives. We also honor those who gave their lives serving our country. Enjoy the warmer weather. Stop by any time my door is always open!

The Orange Rotary annual Rose Sale will be Mothers’ Day Weekend May 12 & 13.

The Orange Art & Cultural Council and Orange Community Services have partner together to bring you a Kindness Rock Garden. Join us each Friday in May to paint rocks and inspirational sayings for the garden.

Last month we added 3 new trips for 2017. the trips are a Thimble Island Cruise August 9, Mystery Trip September 13, and Chocolate Decadence Sunset Tour September 29. The Thimble Island Cruise and Chocolate Decadence Sunset Tour are both Senior Center arrange trips so there are reduced pricing if you drive yourself. The Chocolate Decadence Sunset Tour is a Train ride with wine tasting and chocolate sampling. “Leave the driving to us!”

It is time once again for our Bi-Annual Senior Art Exhibit at the Case Memorial Library. This year we will be sharing the space with the Amity High School seniors and their 3 dimensional art pieces. A reception will be held Thursday, May 4 from 5 to 7 pm for the artists and guests at the Case Memorial Library. For more information call the Senior Center Office at (203) 891-4784.

The Orange Economic Development Corporation will once again host the Business Expo on Wednesday, June 14. As an added special event be sure to visit the OACC Art Show in the Senior Lounge during the Expo.

Join us on Friday, May 5 from 5 to 8 for our annual Living Treasure Award Ceremony (formerly Pasta Festa). We will be at a new location, the beautiful, Birchwoods at Oaklane 1027 Racebrook Rd, Woodbridge. The highlight of the eve-ning will be the presentation of this year’s Living Treasure Awards to our deserving recipients. Winners of the raffle will go home with some great prizes donated by individuals and local businesses. Tables of 8 to 10 are available. If you wish to be seated with particular people, payment for the group must be made at the same time. Otherwise we cannot guarantee that you will be sitting together. Please let us know if you would like to donate a prize for the raffle. Tickets go on sale Monday, April 3 at $30 per person.

The story of Richard and Mildred Loving, an in-terracial couple, whose challenge of their anti-miscegenation arrest for their marriage in Virginia led to a legal battle that would end at the US Supreme Court. Kindness Rock Garden
The Orange Arts and Culture Council has partnered with Orange Community Services in creating a Kindness Rock Garden. Join us in painting rocks with inspirational and motivational sayings Fridays in May at 1:00pm. Dedication of the Kindness Rock Garden will be June 21—Summer Solstice. So search for a rock you want to paint and bring your favorite quote and join us in creating some positive energy!

Ice Cream Social
